COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Chithirai Sports Festival 2025: A Resounding Success!

We are absolutely thrilled to share the resounding success of the Chithirai Sports Festival 2025, hosted by the Symbiosophy Education Foundation on Friday, June 14th, at BT/KK Mavadivembu Vigneswara Vidyalayam. This year’s festival was more than just a sports meet; it was a vibrant showcase of talent and community spirit. Children from our Saturday skill development classes, whose holistic growth your generosity nurtures, truly shone! The event provided a fantastic stage for them to showcase the karate, dance, and other skills they’ve diligently honed throughout the year, captivating the community with their performances.

The energy was electrifying as participants competed with admirable sportsmanship, and we were delighted to present certificates to all competition winners, recognizing their hard work and dedication. Beyond the youthful exuberance, the festival also created a wonderful platform for parents to actively participate in various sports activities. This inclusive approach truly brought the entire community together in a spirit of shared joy.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Mrs. A.M. Joseph for her exceptional organizational efforts, and to our esteemed Chief Guests, Mr. D. Kugadason (Principal), and the Mavadivembu Grama Sevaka Officer for gracing the occasion.

Fostering Harmony in Ottamavadi: A Successful Awareness Event

We’re pleased to report on a significant initiative by Symbioun Private Limited aimed at strengthening community bonds. On June 12th, we successfully organized a Harmony Awareness Event in Ottamavadi, held at the conference hall of the Divisional Secretariat of Koralaipatru Central.

This vital event focused on equipping participants with practical strategies for fostering understanding and unity within their communities. Under the expert guidance of resource person Ms. Keshayinie Edmund Jeyaprakas, the sessions specifically addressed individual and community-based conflicts, providing attendees with valuable tools and techniques for effective conflict management. These crucial topics were explored through engaging discussions and interactive group activities, ensuring a deeper understanding and practical application.

It’s our firm belief that the knowledge gained by the staff who attended will now be cascaded throughout the wider community, empowering individuals to navigate disagreements constructively and build a more cohesive society. Initiatives like this are crucial for cultivating stronger, more harmonious communities, and we are proud to lead such efforts.

Mavadivembu Farm: Bountiful Harvests and Growing Opportunities

Our Mavadivembu farm is currently experiencing a period of abundant productivity, delivering fresh produce to our community. We are delighted to report bountiful harvests of long beans and green gram, with approximately 10kg of green gram already collected. These fresh yields are being sold directly to visitors at the farm and to nearby local shops, fostering direct community engagement.Beyond our current harvests, our seedling production is thriving on a considerable scale. We have successfully cultivated healthy capsicum, scotch bonnet pepper, brinjal, and tomato seedlings. We’re now equipped to accommodate larger demands, with the capacity to fulfill orders of 300 to 1000 seedling bags on a pre-order basis.

In addition to these key crops, the farm also features various other vegetables, including ladies’ finger, ridge gourd, and assorted green leaves, providing a diverse range of fresh produce. We are also nurturing a dedicated herbal garden, contributing to both local biodiversity and traditional knowledge.

The progress at Mavadivembu highlights our commitment to sustainable agriculture and meeting the needs of our community, both through direct sales and by supporting local cultivation efforts with our healthy seedlings.

Enhancing Soil Health through Earthworm Fertilizer Production

In our ongoing commitment to ecological farming and sustainable practices, we’re excited to announce the commencement of earthworm fertilizer (vermicompost) production at our Mavadivembu farm.

This natural initiative harnesses the power of earthworms to create a rich, organic compost that will significantly enhance our soil health and boost crop vitality. The Mavadivembu community farm team has been deeply involved in setting up and managing this innovative process, showcasing their dedication to sustainable agriculture. By integrating vermicomposting, we are not only adopting an environmentally friendly approach but also ensuring the long-term sustainability and productivity of our agricultural efforts. We’d also like to extend a special thank you to the facilitator who guided our team through this valuable learning and implementation process. This step underscores our dedication to nurturing our land naturally for healthier, more bountiful harvests.

Thikiliveddai Farm Update: Resilience and Growth

Our Thikiliveddai farm continues to demonstrate robust growth despite challenging conditions. The fields are currently thriving with healthy crops of banana, manioc, green leaves, cluster beans, pumpkin, and chili. We are successfully utilizing cow dung as our primary fertilizer, supporting strong yields.

Looking ahead, we are excited to implement vermicompost production at Thikiliveddai, mirroring the successful initiative at Mavadivembu farm. This will further enhance our sustainable farming practices and soil health.

While our crops are flourishing, dairy production has declined recently due to the ongoing drought season. We anticipate a return to full production once the rainy season begins, nourishing our cattle and ensuring a steady supply of milk.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

Mavadivembu Saturday Classes: Nurturing Talents and Innovation

Our Saturday skill development classes at Mavadivembu continue to be a vibrant hub of learning and activity for the children. These sessions are consistently providing diverse opportunities for growth and discovery.

Children are actively engaged in their regular Yoga and Chess classes, honing both their focus and strategic thinking. Our new Innovation class is particularly exciting, where young minds are learning practical skills, including developing equipment using batteries and creatively repurposing waste items into useful objects.

On the physical front, Karate classes are in full swing, with dedicated practices underway for upcoming gradings. The children are also enjoying spirited sessions of Badminton and Cricket, building their athletic skills and teamwork.

We’re incredibly proud of the children’s enthusiasm and progress across all these disciplines, which are designed to foster holistic development.

Cultivating Environmental Awareness at Mavadivembu

We’re excited to share that the children of Mavadivembu recently participated in an insightful climate change awareness session, thoughtfully conducted by the Dilmah Conservation team.

This vital session equipped our young learners with a deeper understanding of climate change and its impact. Initiatives like these are crucial for fostering environmental stewardship from a young age, inspiring the next generation to become advocates for our planet. We extend our sincere gratitude to Dilmah Conservation for their valuable contribution to our community’s education.

We are grateful for the overwhelming support from the community and our dedicated team who have made these programs a reality.
